After shocking the world with an amazing run to the final of the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2009, the USA Men's soccer team and its fans have a great deal to look forward to with such a young roster. A run to the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil is likely and here is the line-up to do it.
STARTERS
Landon Donovan. Left Midfield. Donovan will have just turned 32 before the start of the 2014 World Cup. The 2014 World Cup may be his last in a USA shirt, but he will be at the height of his abilities and captain the squad. Still in his physical prime and a veteran of 3 prior World Cups, Landon will be ready to lead the Stars and Stripes to at least a semi-final birth.
Tim Howard. Goalkeeper. Howard is a word class keeper and will just have turned 35 prior to the 2014 World Cup. The age of 35 is still in the prime of a goalkeeper's career and his continued regular starts in the excellent English Premiership for Everton will keep him at the top of his game. Howard will still be one of the nest players on the team.
Oguchi Onyewu.Central Defender. Onyewu will just turn 32 at the start of the 2014 World Cup and will be the veteran anchor of a tough back line. The athleticism and physicality will mesh with his then years of experience as a defender in Serie A. A prime candidate for Best XI at World Cup 2014, Onyewu will make a major mark.
Michael Bradley.Central Midfield. Bradley's continued all-around game and tireless running make him an essential starter in the central midfield. After consistently starting for the US team and gaining year of pro club experience, Bradley will be a smarter player and pick his moments for tacking to elude multiple yellow cards.
Clint Dempsey. Right Midfield. Although he will be 31 years old, Clint still will be a starter due to his technical skills, flair, and ability to score. At 2014, Dempsey may slot into different positions along the midfield and front line.
Maurice Edu.Right Back. Due to an excess of midfield players, Edu will be moved to right back at some point in the World Cup qualifying cycle and excel. His speed, athleticism, poise, touch, and defensive skills make for a great fit at left back. His experience at World Cup 2010 and importance at his club team Rangers will enable him to shine during World Cup 2014 at the prime age of 28.
Jonathan Spector. Left Back. At the age of 28, Spector will be in his prime and a veteran of many starts for the USA team. His great touch, outstanding defensive work, and crossing ability will be integral parts to the team.
Omar Gonzalez.Central Defender. A huge defender at 6 feet 4 inches, Gonzalez will pair with Onyewu to make one of the best and most intimidating central defense pairings at the 2014 World Cup. Omar will only be 24 during the tournament and will continue his excellent play from past tournaments such as the FIFA U-17 World Cup and Pan American U-20 Games.
Jozy Altidore.Forward. A handful to mark at 20 years old, Jozy will be a beast at 25 during the World Cup with his great strength, speed, and scoring ability. His performance at the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 made the world take notice and World Cup 2104 will be his breakout party.
Charlie Davies. Forward. Davies will still have speed beyond anyone else on the roster at 28 years old. After pairing with Altidore for the preceding 5 years, Davies will know all of the precise cutting runs to make against defenses at the World Cup in 2014.
Jose Torres.Central Midfield. A great talent and star for Pachuca in the top Mexican league, Torres will shine in World Cup 2014 at the age of 25. Although he had issues fitting into Bob Bradley's system while breaking into the team in 2009, Torres touch and technical skills will flourish in the middle of the pitch for the USA in 2014.
SUBS
Ricardo Clark. Central Midfield. Clark could start in place of Torres or Bradley in central midfield depending on the opposing team and tactics. His positioning, work rate, and experience will allow him to be a major part of the USA's run in 2014.
Benny Feilhaber. Midfield. As noted in 2009, Benny seems to really play well of the bench and gives the team a technical lift when he comes in. Very versatile, Benny could start or sub in at any of the midfield positions.
Marvell Wynne. Defender. An explosive athlete, Wynne will be prepared to fill in at any spot on the defensive line. At the age of 28, Wynne will still be in his prime and add a different dimension to the defense if inserted into the game.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup is just around the corner. This prestigious event starts on June 11th with the 32 qualifying teams divided up into eight different groups. The host country this year is South Africa. If you want to bet on the World Cup, Sportsbook.com has the odds listed on each team’s chances of winning. This book is offering a $100 sign-up bonus to our readers. Let’s take a look at the odds for each team in each group below, along with their world ranking according to FIFA.
Group A:
Tenth-ranked France (+1800) is the favorite in this group. They are followed by No. 17 Mexico (+8000) and No. 18 Uruguay (+10000) who will be in a battle to advance to the second round. Closing out this group is the sleeper and host country South Africa (+12,500) who are ranked No. 90 in the world.
Group B:
This is a very tough group featuring three teams in the Top-20. No. 7 Argentina (+750) is certainly expected to advance. No. 12 Greece (+15000) is somewhat of a value bet in comparison to where they stand in the world ranking. No. 19 Nigeria (+10000) and No. 47 South Korea (+20000) round out this group.
Group C:
No. 8 England (+600) appears to have one of the easier draws, which will help them make a run at their first World Cup title in team history. No. 14 United States (+6600) cannot complain about this draw either as they will try to advance with England over No. 23 Slovenia (+20000) and No. 31 Algeria (+40000).
Group D:
No. 6 Germany (+1200) heads a strong group here. They are followed by No. 16 Serbia (+6600) and No. 20 Australia (+12500). No. 32 Ghana (+6600) appears to be a bit overvalued in comparison to where they rank according to FIFA.
Group E:
One of the pre-tournament favorites, No. 4 The Netherlands (+1100), should be able to get by to the next round. The will face stiff tests from No. 19 Cameroon (+10000) and No. 32 Denmark (+10000). Also in this group is No. 45 Japan (+25000).
Group F:
No. 5 Italy (+1200) caught a big break with their group stage. They won’t have competition from any team inside the Top-30 in the world rankings. Their competition will be No. 30 Paraguay (+8000), No. 38 Slovakia (+20000) and No. 78 New Zealand (+200000). New Zealand is the biggest underdog in the field.
Group G:
Despite being the No. 1 ranked team according to the FIFA rankings, Brazil (+500) is listed behind Spain according to Sportsbook.com as to which team will win. The Brazilians got a tough draw considering No. 3 Portugal (+2800) is in their group, and this is the only group with two teams ranked in the top-10. But these two teams should have no problem advancing against No. 27 Ivory Coast (+3300) and No. 106 North Korea (+100000).
Group H:
There is some quality competition in this group, led by No. 2 Spain (+400) who is the pre-tournament favorite. No. 15 Chile (+6600) and No. 26 Switzerland (+2000) are certainly no pushovers. Rounding out this group is No. 40 Honduras (+50000).
